Happy Mountain Day Mount Holyoke! Okay okay. A day late…maybe two. But this is song I wrote on Mountain Day 2008, my first semester back at MHC after an 8 year absence. I didn’t know anyone really then and I spent the whole day avoiding a paper in my room (a dark addition to an old house on the other side of campus from the lake that had mock-brick linoleum and dark painted wood molding…trees all around so it was really dark) and writing songs on garageband. Eventually, this little guy emerged and I think it really captures how I was feeling that day - hopeful, timid and wide-eyed as I entered the new circus that was to be my life at Mount Holyoke.
