Tell me what you know about Richard Wagner.  I only really know Der Ring des Nibelungen. But he is controversial, of course, because of his Nationalism (i.e. linked to German Socialism/Nazism).Many of his written works are translated and available courtesy of the Wagner Library. I took an opera class many years ago and really loved his works but would like to know more about how nationalism “works” in his story and the retelling of his history.  It is always hard for me to separate an artist’s life from their works…which is why I often don’t know much about the bands/artists I listen to.
